Clamping with Air

Safranek Enterprises offers a whole series of clamping devices which use the suction power of a vacuum to hold your material stationary: the Her-Saf Revolving Plate Air-Vac-Clamp (#AVC2S), the Her-Saf Fixed Plate Air-Vac-Clamp (#AVC1), the Her-Saf Quick Clamp (#AVCQC), plus vacuum kits and accessories.

The advantage of vacuum clamps is the speed with which the clamp can be engaged and disengaged. Just a flick of a foot pedal activates and releases the vacuum hold. The vacuum clamps also allow you full access to the top and all sides of your workpiece. Woodworkers don't have to waste precious time re-positioning and locking down clamps. Another advantage is that the vacuum clamps will not mark or damage the surface of your workpiece.

Vacuum clamps won't entirely replace traditional clamps like C-clamps. The purpose of a vacuum clamp is to hold something down in a stationary position. If you need to clamp objects together you still need a more traditional clamping device. (Notice how we combine air-clamping with spring clamps on our Air Grips, model #AV-AG440.)

Even oversized pieces can be held securely by the Air-Vac-Clamps if an additional support of the same height is used. The Air-Vac-Clamps have holes drilled in the feet so that they can be bolted to a floor. The Quick Clamp is designed for small rout-to-pattern work. The vacuum kits allow woodworkers to turn their own work tables into vacuum clamps. Ask your Her-Saf distributor for more information.
