Dependable * Accurate * Efficient * Easy to Use
The Real Benefits of the Her-Saf Panel Routers
Machines designed to benefit shops of every size well beyond the 21st century! The application of technologies for simplicity and functionality come together in the Her-Saf Panel Router. What this means to the owner is a machine that will last through the changing styles of millwork and cabinetry. A machine that is dependable and versatile enough to meet changing needs.
Statements from Her-Saf Panel Router Owners:
"You should have made me buy it ten years ago"
"I don't know how we ever did without it"
"It's limited only by imagination"
The final selling point for one owner
was the color. Sounds irrelevant? Not
when the owner suffers from
depression. The colors are friendly &
positive. He said that the machine was
his favorite to operate.
The Her-Saf Panel Router requires only one operator, and if using templets
no special knowledge is needed. Designed to be easy to learn and operate.
It's Our Technology That Gives You the Distinct Advantage
Crown Shoe with Pantographic Action
The crown shoe makes it possible for only a small area around the cutter to actually touch the workpiece.
The pantographic action is the floating or flexibility of the central carriage unit. Putting these two features together is what ensures an even depth of cut despite an irregular or warped surface. |
Each machine has a Templet System. This system makes it possible to do production work as well as custom. Once a templet is made - Save it. Even in custom work things are repeated. Templets reduce errors and ensure that all work pieces are the same. This system also makes it possible to do small jobs with efficiency.

Solid Fence - Convenient Working Height
The importance of a solid work surface is consistency
and ease of operation. A solid work surface eliminates
variables of movement. The high pressure laminate surface
on the fence provides a smooth work surface for moving the
workpiece through the machine effortlessly, or close to it.
The height of the fence is at an ergonomically convenient
working height. Less stress on the body while operating the
machine = less fatigue.
On that note...
There are several features designed into the machine to reduce or minimize stress and fatigue of the operator.
The Carriage Assembly is mounted using delrin, a self lubricating plastic, to insure an easy gliding movement up and down the slides. The Counter Balance attached to the carriage assembly assists in reducing the weight lifted by the operator. The counter balance is simple in appearance but very effective.
Safety & Control Features
The open area around the cutter allows the
operator to see where they are cutting.
Want to make a pencil mark? You can easily line up the cutter to your mark. Shown in the photo I have stopped just before the pencil mark.

The Depth of Cut Control is an excellent example of technical simplicity and safety. Designed to move the motor mount (router) instead of trying to make the adjustment by moving the tooling in the router. It's much easier to turn a dial.
The Knurled Knob at the base of the motor mount controls the depth of cut. Using the Knurled Knob one can easily and safely set the depth of cut. See the little red pointer in the photo? It is showing the depth of cut is set at 5/8".

This is the view of the bottom side of the carriage. There are two very important control features located here. The Eccentric Nut is used to adjust for material thickness. When set correctly the Eccentric Nut insures that the central carriage assembly will not drop the cutter head into the slats when coming off the work piece. The other control feature shown here is the Flapper which is used to hold the central carriage unit out. This makes changing tooling easier.
It also means that the operator can drop the cutting tool into the work piece at a specific point. This can come in real handy.

Each machine is supplied with two lock clamps, shown here. The top Lock Clamp can be used to mark the height of each dado. No guess work.
| Each dado will be exactly the same height. This is an excellent method for accomplishing blind dado work. Take a look at the Her-Saf Shelf Dapper to assist in making the assembly of blind dado work even easier.
The Lock Clamp below the central carriage is handy for making housed in dados as shown in photo. Using laid-up templet fixtures you can also put housed in dados or blind dados in small pieces. The Lock Clamps add a wide array of versatility to this machine.

Strength & Endurance
The Her-Saf Panel Router is built to last decades!
Its frame is made of heavy gage tubular steel welded for strength and durability. The welded cross bracing is designed to keep the frame "true". The solid fence along with the tripod styled leg system make for a machine that is crafted to maintain alignment and plumb. This kind of durability makes it possible for this machine to easily handle materials up to ten feet long and 1-1/2" thick, while maintaining accuracy and alignment. Each machine is fully aligned, then crated for shipment.
As we all know, freight companies travel the smoothest roads. Therefore included with each machine is the Alignment Guide, shown here. This simple wooden tool can check the alignment of the machine after it's been removed from the crating.
When Space Counts
The Her-Saf Panel Router has a 3'x10' footprint. Although it does not use that whole space because of the tripod leg system. The tripod styled leg system allows this machine to nestle easily back to back with other vertical machines.
