The Importance of Keeping Your Air Vents Clean
Why are there air vents on motors?
When was the last time you noticed an air vent?
When was the last time you blew the sawdust out of the motor compartment and cleaned the air vents (a.k.a the funny little slots in the metal cover on your motors) on your machinery? By removing the dust build-up on the air vents you increase the air flow around the motor. Every time you remove dust from the air vents on motors increasing air flow, it helps to cool the motors. Cool motors last longer. Take a quick look around your shop. There are motors on your hand held power tools, motors on your stationary equipment, motors as part of your building. Each require sufficient air flow to maintain the life of the motor. A little maintenance goes a long way!
