The Right Tool For the Right Job
Using the right tool for the right job -- sounds simple
doesn't it? Guess how many ways there are to put a groove in a board? You can
probably name three without even thinking about it. Which is the
"right" way? Choosing the "right" way to do anything depends
on several factors: safety, efficiency, and accuracy. Use these factors as
gages to determine what is best for the project at hand with the tools
available. A hand plane could be best if you are restoring a one of a kind
cabinet. Sometimes it is better for the project and you to invest in a new
tool. Don't fall into the trap of "We've always done it this way." If
you should hear yourself saying that, stop and apply the safety, efficiency,
and accuracy factors. Taking a few moments to review how you do something can
save you money, time, damages, and headaches.
